Found your site on a random search for "wargaming Singapore" especially how you were led to Paradigm Infinitum in the search for opponents and like minded gamers, which is why after spending a bit of time reading your writing, and adding your blog to my RSS I decided I had to write.
Basically my name is Anthony, I am, like you, and expat from Sydney, who has also lived in Korea and now finds himself in Singapore and who after a recent move finally has the room for a dedicated wargames room. Rather than only use the space as a "solo gaming" affair I decided to flex my Google-Fu and see if I could find like minded individuals for whom playing with toy soldiers is considered any but a waste of time
So this is basically a reach out to find a like-minded soul who enjoys beer and gaming, and maybe not in that order
I was at Beerfest Asia 2011 last night – I suspect that covers the beer part of the gaming. I was also doing some work on my DBA project – that's the wargaming side of things taken care of too.
Hi there, fellow wargamer in town (S'pore) until the end of Sept. Hoping for some games, but didn't bring any myself.
Know DBX, play Warmaster Ancients, any of the 5 or so Fire & Fury variants, and basically like anything that provides a good game (did a lot of Command & Colours recently, as a compromise). Working on some big 10mm armies, have loads of 6mm, and several 15mm.
Sure would love to meet up with some Singapore gamers for a chat and a game. Thomo? Anthony?
Anthony and I have been trying to co-ordinate dates – I am in and out of Singapore at the moment but back in for a period of time Wednesday of this week. I'll be heading back to Oz for a week around 28 or 29 September.
Have PMed you and will try and organise something as soon as.
Are you in Singapore for work or the Grand Prix or both?
I saw that you had archived my timeline, which is cool, and wanted to mention that I've changed my webpage to warscholar.org, which has timeline and all plus a military history newsfeed. It tends towards US matters but also has a good deal of Australian, UK, Canadian and other English language news. Feel free to link or not as you prefer. Hopefully my site has some utility.
Hi Ian, yes I'm by myself these days! betty and I divorced 6 years ago. Harley and Amelia are now 24.5yrs and they are getting on well with their careers and social lives. I has to sell the bigger place in Winmalee (divorce of course!) . I have built my own place at Wentworth Falls (yes, as an owner builder) I designed it, I've built it, I live it it alone these days. I'm content but I miss female company (of course). I still have a triumph, no, not the black one but a triumph Tiger (10 years now) which I do outback trips on.
You should remember that I am a piano player, when I moved in 5 months ago I got a baby grand in immediately, I have not played my electronic Rholand since.
I still love beer, mostly coopers pale ale these days. I still work at St. Columba's High School in IT and recently I've taken up junior music classes (it's easy and fun too)
Ian, write to me, I want to hear some words from you. Tell me how Stephen has gone at Uni (this is the last time I got news from you).
Ian, I'm still the same and I still miss the time we had together in Bunnal Ave.. Yeh, I remember crawling home from a drinking session opposite your place (Neil's place) and you were still on your feet, good one mate! I don't forget heros.
Hi there, am in Singapore for a fortnight in Sept: any miniature wargamers around to play? I know DBx, play fire & Fury and variants and Warmaster Ancients, can do miniatured C&C and basically like every game.
