Across to the Other Aisle and to the Right Sir!

I travelled a lot recently, spending some time in Australia. Whilst in Australia, I drove about 2,800 kilometres. By air, I flew from Jeddah to Dubai to Bangkok to Sydney to Auckland and return (somewhat more than 2,800 kilometres I will agree).
What perplexed me the most about this travel was relative costs and comfort. I [...]

Internal Server Error

Thomo’s Hole was blocked for a day and a half. I’m not sure of the reason but any access attempts returned an “Error 500 - Internal Server Error”. What was worse was that I had to get Jeff to fix it for me. Anyhow, it is back up and running again now.

Back In The Saddle

Sigh - the break is over and I am back in Jeddah at the office again
It was great while it lasted and I will write up some things from the break shortly, as well as post a picture or two in the gallery … and get around to some more wargaming entries - [...]

Broken PCs

Sigh - WIDGET((1)) is down … not quite for the count but it is severely unwell at the moment. The PC doctor’s diagnosis was “hmm, don’t know — but reformat the hard drive, recover the system utilities, reinstall Windows XP then I’ll have a look and see what I can do about the USB ports [...]

C-Men Not Cleared of One Murder

So yesterday I wrote that the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (or as I prefer to think of them, the Ministry of Lasciviousness and Licentiousness - the C-Men) have been cleared of one of the recent murders that they have been involved in in the posting C-Men Cleared of [...]

Korea DMZ

I ran across a website called Korea DMZ which is based around the De-Militarised Zone between North and South Korea. This means that there is a lot of information on the website concerning the Korean War, with sections covering the main combatants from the UN side (I never realised the Ethiopians and Colombians served in [...]

Music

I was working at the office today, listening to my Nirvana collection with the headphones on to cut the background noise. It then occurred to me that way back when, when music was on vinyl and was played on turntables with oil dampened arms and new diamond needles, when the amplifiers and the speakers where [...]

Osprey Publishing Has A Blog

Osprey, the publisher of the Men-At-Arms, Elite, Vanguard, Essential Histories and so on have a blog. The Osprey Publishing Blog appears to have leapt into life on 14 June 2007, judging by the first post to the blog, So why an Osprey Blog?, “Tank Girl” Simone of Osprey made the first post.
It is, at this [...]

Digital Chosun Ilbo English Edition Fails English

I was looking at an article in the on-line Chosun Ilbo, one of the Korean newspapers, and I decided to email a link to the article to a friend (all right, I’ll ‘fess up, it was the one about the naked models promoting milk by having a naked yoghurt fight on stage).
Generally the English language [...]

F.D.A. Tracked Tainted Drugs, but Trail Went Cold in China

Back on May 7th this year I posted an entry on this blog about From China to Panama, a Trail of Poisoned Medicine which concerned the export of “a poisonous solvent sold by counterfeiters and mixed into drugs [which] has figured in mass poisonings around the world that killed thousands.” The blog entry originated from [...]
