More Bad Chinese Product

Seems the Chinese are hell-bent on destroying their own markets (unlike the Indians who have at least learned to listen to their markets and try and move forward with them). In the latest saga of Chinese firms cheating on the ingredients to increase bottom-line profits, the New Your Times reports again, this time on tainted [...]

F.D.A. Tracked Tainted Drugs, but Trail Went Cold in China

Back on May 7th this year I posted an entry on this blog about From China to Panama, a Trail of Poisoned Medicine which concerned the export of “a poisonous solvent sold by counterfeiters and mixed into drugs [which] has figured in mass poisonings around the world that killed thousands.” The blog entry originated from [...]

Gallery Updates

I have been madly updating the gallery over the past few days with Mark I versions in place for:

Mongolian Landscapes
Places Visited

I have also uploaded all the museum photos from the old gallery. These are covering the Choson, Three Kingdom and Koryo Periods of Korean History as well as the Thai Airforce Museum. Labelling (captions) are [...]

Thomo’s Hole’s Gallery Is Back

Well, on its way back at least. Jeffro installed Gallery 2 for me and it is now integrated into WordPress as well - I am just having to learn how to use it :shock:Of course, it will take me a while to get the photos back up - probably the best part of a [...]

10,000 Page Hits

It was back on March 13th that I noted 3000 Page Hits at Thomo’s Hole here. That had taken 2 months to achieve (January to March). The next 7000 page hits came over three months, indicating a growing number of hits to the Hole.
I know I wasn’t going to say anything about this until next [...]

Dead for Seven Years and Not Missed

In one of the saddest news stories I have read for a while, the Sydney Morning Herald reported about a Body found in bed after seven years. The Herald noted:
The decomposed corpse of a German man has been found alone in his bed after nearly seven years, police in the western city of Essen said [...]

From China to Panama, a Trail of Poisoned Medicine

The New York Times noted in an article called From China to Panama, a Trail of Poisoned Medicine by Walt Bogdanich and Jake Hooker and published on 6 May 2007:
A poisonous solvent sold by counterfeiters and mixed into drugs has figured in mass poisonings around the world that killed thousands.
This is something that has [...]

Australian Visa Rules Abuse

The Chosun Ilbo of Korea notes in an article about Prostitutes, Traffickers Abusing Australian Visa Rules that many Korean women are lured to Australia by unscrupulous Koreans on working holiday visas and that these women end up working in Korean Salons and in brothels in Australia for a year or two. Some women know the [...]

Thomo Travels

I’m on the road again so updates to the blog will be varied but irregular.
Still, it is good being out of Saudi Arabia for a little while - and I will admit that the first meal I had a restaurant outside of the Middle East was a full rack of baby back ribs and a [...]

Temporary Husbands Needed … more

Back on 31 March 2007 I wrote about Temporary Husbands Needed for some female students who had one scholarships to study overseas but could not take this up unless they were accompanied by a male guardian (not even their mother’s could go with them, it had to be a male).
A follow-up piece was published today [...]
