What’s Coming

After the mammoth session of transferring blog entries over the last couple of days, and working out a transfer mechanism for the last of the articles from Thomo’s Hole (old) I am now starting to look towards the future.

The next steps I guess will be to organise a breadcrumb plugin to make backwards navigation easier. Also, given the number of articles that will occupy pages here (there will be over 80 by the time the transfer of them is finished) coupled with my propensity to write long titles to the articles (I must learn to be more pithy), I will need to reorganise the page structures here and include some intermediate menu pages, as well as perhaps a page index page.

The Pages list in the left sidebar is in for the chop as it will just get too long. The one that I have started to build on the right will remain mercifully short as it will only go down a couple of levels.

I want to add the ability for readers to leave comments on the pages as well as the posts (any suggestions for this?). I need to debug a few things with this theme yet too.

I will also add a photo album or link to album plugin or widget. Probably it will be to Google’s Picassa online album area. That will allow me to bring in the stuff I had in Gallery in the old Hole and provide access again to many of the photos that have been popular – in particular, those from the museums in Korea, the “how-to” ones from my wargaming background as well as the Mongolian landscapes that were featured in the MSN Live Space. I will be adding to that as well.

More posts will appear from my time in Mongolia as well as I have a wealth of material still to write up — so you Mongolia fans, keep hanging around. The next maybe a folk tale or two … if I can find the photo of the appropriate mountain.

Other places I’ve visited will also be updated.

I also have plans for more Historical pieces as I still have the research done for them, as well as more wargaming stuff for Doyle, Kendo and the other blog bunnies.

There is a nice feature to having the blog here. If you want to leave a comment, then do so. Comments will be accepted without any memberships or such, unlike Live Spaces etc. The comments do sit in a queue, however, until I review them so there is no point in casting aspersions on my ancestral heritage … only I will see those ;-)

Lastly, if anyone has a question about anything, post a comment. If anyone wants to contribute an article, then join the Hole and send me an email and I’ll set your status to author – you can then write and post your own articles here.

But most of all, just enjoy the Hole.
