Internet Copying

Back in July I wrote about Ulaanbaatar’s New Subway, which was in reference to the Corporate Hotel in Ulaanbaatar copying the Charterhouse Hotel of Hong Kong’s front page (interestingly, even now, the page is unchanged and still refers to UB’s MTR)

It seems now that an Australian advertising agency has been caught out with no imagination as they, Love Communications in the Ricoh Australia advertisement copied part of Dr Scott Aaronson‘s (an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Quantum Computing Since Democritus lecture. The words copied were for some models talking. This was reported in the Sydney Morning Herald.

Love Communications claimed there was no copying and that the words were just general enough to be similar oh and in any case, we did not breach copyright. Love Communications script read:

Brunette model: But if quantum mechanics isn’t physics in the usual sense – if it’s not about matter, or energy, or waves – then what is it about?

Blonde model: Well, from my perspective, it’s about information, probabilities, and observables, and how they relate to each other.

Dr Aaronson’s lecture:

But if quantum mechanics isn’t physics in the usual sense – if it’s not about matter, or energy, or waves, or particles – then what is it about? From my perspective, it’s about information and probabilities and observables, and how they relate to each other.

Well, looked the same to me.

I look forward to the next bit of Internet copying I run across.
