The 5 S’s

iSixSigma sent me a newsletter today, one of the headlines being “Checking Simple Linear Regression Analysis Using 5S’s“. I guess that iSixSigma is referring to these:

• Seiri = sort, structurise, sort out
• Seiton = straighten, systematise, systematic arrangement
• Seiso = scrub, sanitise, spic and span
• Seiketsu = systematise, standardise
• Shitsuke = standardise, self-discipline

although I tend to think of the 5S’s as the morning ritual of:

• Shave
• Shit
• Shower
• Shampoo
• Shoeshine

Hmm, I think mine are used more often – or at least the first 4 S’s are
