Issues in the Hole

A broken database table in the engine room has caused some consternation for the engineering and damage control sections of  Thomo’s Hole causing an outage of around 11 hours. After a short period of head scratching and statements such as “the engines’ll not take it sir”, and “I’m an engineer Thomo, not a god ((with apologies to McCoy))” the issue has been repaired and Thomo’s Hole is back on course at cruising speed.

All ahead flank!

Jolly good.. and on that note… downloaded an ancient submarine game yesterday and had wizard fun sinking tankers and troopships, avoiding pings, and sailing back to Bremerhaven decked in tonnage flags.. ‘Aces of the Deep’ – only requires a little tweaking to run on the Win 7 platform, (DosBox) and it is really quite immersive… especially standing on the bridge at night, diesels running full bore through the middle of the convoy waiting for the watch officer to tell you that the tubes have been reloaded… Though there were a few panicky moments as we took sufficient damage from the escorts shelling us, that it looked like we weren’t going to be able to surface from running silent at 150m deep…
