I’ve moved the Hole. Its new home is at https://thomoshole.wordpress.com/ but the old URL, http://thomo.coldie.net will still work to redirect to the new URL – at least while ever I keep paying the $13.00 a year 🙂
I still have some work to do here settling into a new theme and getting used to working inside the WordPress universe – like making sure the feeds to other places such as Planet Ancients etc. still work. There will be some theme changes in the near future as well. I think I will be sitting down for a couple of evenings this week to continue tweaking until Thomo’s Hole once again looks pretty much like I want it to look.
I will then also go back to the first post and step forward to make sure all the internal links etc are correct and that there are pictures where there should be. I will be honest and say that I really liked the look of Blogger and was quite happy to migrate to Blogger as the new platform for Thomo’s Hole until I discovered the amount of work the migration would turn in to.
I grabbed a couple of statistics from the old Hole and present them below for posterity. They are the daily and monthly totals as well as the number of views of the more popular posts.

The month that peaked well above all the previous ones was the month that someone picked up the Korean Soldiers in the Wehrmacht post and promoted it in Reddit. When I first saw the statistics that day I thought something was broken 🙂

So, a new era for Thomo’s Hole begins. Apart from the appearance and such mentioned above, the last thing I need to consider as well is whether to not just accept the odd advertisement from WordPress to keep the blog free or whether to go to full advertisements to raise funds. Personally, I am happy to keep Thomo’s Hole free of advertisements as much as possible so I will look at whether or not to pay the extra to have the ads removed – but not for the next week or two!
Well if the ads generate enough income to buy more shiny…keep them.
But I do still think G+ is the way to go. 🙂

The posts from here automagically feed G+ – just the comments don’t come back 🙂
Clicking on it in G+ brings it back here anyway so it all counts and works.
I liked eldest sons comments as well on social vs blog – see https://thomo.coldie.net/2013/09/25/thomos-hole-some-changes-coming/comment-page-1/#comment-1340
